March 2017 Handicap Results

Astonishing numbers turned up to start this season’s first handicap race in the worst weather of the year (so far!). I didn’t really expect more than a dozen hardy souls (betting on four being of the Baugh persuasion) and was even more surprised to catch a first glimpse of the bionic version of Duncan. Only a glimpse, mind, because having expected him to be completely crocked and out of condition post-operatively, he had a fairly generous starting time. Shades of the past then as he not only missed that start – setting off about a minute late – but he cruised through and finished well clear and untroubled. No more leeway for the Duncan in this handicap system! Alternative Fact.

The missing number 8 seems to have been just a miscount. My memory is that Dan was just in front of Vic? Very good run by Gerwyn after being set off over a minute late. The start was indeed a bit of a shambles. Katy was pondering the bottom of the stream when her name was called – but this might genuinely have been the first time that Elen was faster than her sister. Never mind, Katy – I might have been running too (and I do note your 23m31 Parkrun yesterday). In the conditions Tony W ran a brilliant race and might well get under 19 minutes by mid-summer. David B ran sub 20 yesterday in the parkrun and this was even better! Sioned was another late starter motoring through – with almost the same time as Jon who had possibly his best performance ever.

Next race TUESDAY evening April 11th at 6.30pm
