This year was the 11th year that Denbigh Harriers have organised the 11k trail race round the Alwen reservoir named after the Fairy Freckled Cow legend that originated in the area. There were nearly record entries for the race with 141 entrants from Wales and England. The race was also the North Wales Trail Running Championships.
The race was very competitive at the front with Tom Roberts from Meirionnydd running club recording the fastest time achieved on the course finishing in 38.16. Second was Paul Wathan Eryri Harriers from finishing in 39.13 which would have won last years race. He was closely followed by Richard Shearer from Wrexham AC in 39.52. In the Women’s race Gemma Morgans from Eryri Harriers won in a superb time of 46.57 followed by Carolyn Stamper-Clark in 49.09 and Ceri Cook from Buckley Runners in 49.22.
There were 20 Denbigh Harriers helping organise the race as well as 15 runners making this a very successful club event which was well received by both runners and spectators. The first Denbigh harrier home was Shaun Hughes followed closely by Tony Wood. The first Denbigh Harrier woman home was Kate Wilson.
