Denbigh Harriers Weekly Report 10-12-16

Three Denbigh Harriers ( Emma Collins – category win, Tony Benton and Vic Belshaw) travelled to Shropshire for the Cardington Cracker fell race. This was a lovely route over 9 miles with about 2,600′ of ascent. It was a very popular, race and attracted a big turnout and had a good atmosphere. Emma Collins won her age category.

There were four Denbigh Harriers at the Dash in the dark race in Llandegla with Tony Wood showing great form. There were good runs from Hannah Davies who was well up the field in the women’s race and Jon Whitehead who had a much improved performance. John Worthington completed the race for the first time in good shape.

10th Tony Wood 30.13

38th Hannah Davies 34.50

62nd Jon Whitehead 40.17

81st John Worthington 50.22

The Inter-regional Cross Country Championships were held in Brecon at the weekend. This was a long trip to make and Denbigh Harriers were well represented in the North Wales team with six of us running. The Men’s race (8.7K) was very fast from the off and Shaun Hughes was well up there with the front runners but fell back a bit in the later stages. David Baugh was more circumspect with his start but once into his running really enjoy the race and finished well. In the Ladies’ race (6K) Ceri Elen Diss had a stunning run coping well with the mud and finishing well up the field. She was followed by Ceri Belshaw and Katy Baugh in close succession. Menai Baugh was also worried about being at the back of the field but ended up overtaking quite a few runners on the second lap.
