DENBIGH HARRIERS
DENBIGH HARRIERS
2010
Denbigh Harriers
is a small club which is proud of its friendliness. We meet Monday,
Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at Denbigh Leisure Centre at 6pm, for a
run of 4 to 6 miles usually.
When daylight allows we mostly train
off-road, using the plentiful Public Footpaths around Denbigh. We
sometimes run on the beautiful Clwydian range. We call Fridays the
“social run” as we take thing a bit easier.
At present we do not take junior members. We
have a busy schedule of social events, including running events, and
gatherings in which non-running family members can also participate.
We have a particular interest in
cross-country and make a strong show every season in the North Wales
Cross Country League and the North Wales Championships. These are great
team days out and are very well attended. You do not have to be chosen
for one of these teams – all members are encouraged to take part.
However no member has to compete in any event – if you just like to run
in company then you are very welcome!
We also have club members who compete at
high levels in fell and trail races, and road races. They have even
brought home a Championship or two, but they would never tell you!
During the months of British Summer Time we
hold a monthly handicap race over a 3 mile truly cross country course,
complete with stiles and cows. This is a great opportunity for members
to meet and catch up.
We run a now annual trail race called the
Fairy Freckled Cow race – see section for Alwen Trail Race. We also are
involved in the organisation of some small and some high level fell
races.
Come and meet us – if you don’t go you won’t know!
